Oftentimes when Pokémon rom hacks are announced, it seems like they are revealed while still in the planning phase, where things are still very subject to change and there isn’t a lot of appealing gameplay to be recorded and show off. This appears to not be the case with this new rom hack, Pokémon: Kanto Expansion Pak, which for the last year has been worked on quietly by Plague von Karma, the hack’s lead dev, and his team. They say they are finally ready to show it off, check out the trailer below!

I know some players will groan at the prospect of going back to Kanto yet again, however the amount of features and polish being shown off in this short teaser is quite impressive. There are 5 starters, you are able to start as the character Green, and the team has also added the evolutional forms and regional variants from newer generations , new towns and areas, some new legendary events and some which have been altered, beta designs , and these are just some of the highlights. Give it a look, I’ll admit it’s got me thinking it might finally be time to return to Kanto.
